“I enjoyed working on the Get Set app because I felt it was a very useful app for young athletes. In addition, the app was backed by the IOC, which gave it a stamp of quality.” Fredrik Paasche, Senior Mobile Developer, Making Waves Oslo

“A very useful app for young athletes.”

Get Set – Train Smarter was created to help prevent sports injuries by providing the most evidence-based and effective warm-up routines for different sports. All exercises are presented through videos, supported by short descriptions on how to perform them correctly. Exercises are presented with variations to make them more difficult and challenging as you progress. The Get Set exercises are designed to be carried out with a minimum of equipment, to make them safe and easy to implement wherever you are. A dedicated program is available for each Olympic sport and for every glorious part of our bodies.

Our approach

Get Set – Train Smarter is the result of a collaboration between the IOC, the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center, Making Waves, and several international sports federations. We ran a series of creative workshops and, in testing of early prototypes, we made sure to talk to everyone: young athletes, coaches, injury prevention scientists and other stakeholders. The first version of the app stood on the ready in time for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. Since then, the app has been updated with even more sports, and our content team has made it a citizen of the world by teaching it 7 languages.

The outcome

Get Set – Train Smarter has since 2014 been pre-installed on the mobile phones of all athletes participating in the Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games, and is accessible for free on Google Play and Apple Store. As mentioned, there’s no need to worry, you don’t have to be on any advanced athlete level to be able to download and use it!

You can download the Get Set app from App Store and Google Play.
